Indonesian netizens have always been known for their ridiculous, laid-back attitude towards any issues.
Recently Joko Widodo, Indonesian president who was appointed on last Sunday (21 October 2019) was spotted sitting cross-legged in an unusual way.
The angle of how he put his heels on the floor while sitting cross-legged shows how much flexibility of calf muscles he has.
And the netizens rave about it.
And after seeing a viral challenge tagged #JokowiChallenge, a yoga guru known for his rehabilitative skills and experience commented that the president’s unique skill is NOT for everyone to imitate. You can even hurt yourself afterwards, he said.
And I guess he has made a point here.
This position needs a lot of calf muscle flexibility.
If you want to try, you don’t need to do a complete yoga class (though it would be better to do so).
It is enough for you to try calf raise by lowering your heels down as much as you can and feel the great great stretch along your calf muscles back there.
If you can feel it intensely, then chances are you have thick and shortened calf muscles. And calf raise would be of great help to lengthen and release whatever tension you have there.
But if you feel excruciating pain around your front ankles, beware!
You are advised that you should not go lower for any reason (this is where the challenge goes wrong) because the bones around your ankles have ‘collided’ with each other so there is no room that makes it possible for you to get the acute angle that Jokowi’s ankles show here. At this very point, you have to just say to yourself: “This is not for me.” (*/)
